Happy baby...

Denver has been a great baby!!! He's been sleeping in his own bed for over a week now & doing great. He wakes up occasionally throughout the night, but a quick tummy rub later & he's fast asleep. Here he is laughing & playing with his mom!

I love my mommy

We had another great day with Denver! The day began helping Dustin move into his new house. Later, Denver was certainly excited that his LSU Tigers were selected for the BCS National Championship game even though his New Orleans Saints lost a 4th quarter lead to drop further out of the playoff race. As the weekend draws to a close, Erin & Denver unwind here before bed.

Growing up...

We are amazed at how much Denver changes each day. He now laughs & smiles in response to outside stimulations. He can also roll over to his left side, and back over onto his back. He seems to be entertained by the fact that he can do this, & rolls back & forth laughing...this picture is of him rolling over.

Denver has been increasingly alert each day. He began to smile in reaction to Erin & I today and realizing that he can make more noises than just his cry. He "oohs" & "ahhs" while he is awake. I think he's trying to say "My daddy's cool!"

Denver has been dressed in this outfit every Saturday since he was born. Unfortunately, I believe this Saturday was his last, as he's growing out of it. Dustin & I talked about cutting the legs out & giving him some cajun cut-offs, but his mom may not like the idea...

Spooky scary lobster

Denver was a lobster for Halloween. He stayed in the costume just long enough to get one or two good pictures before getting fussy about his strange red clawed arms.

Erin took him in for his three-week check-up today. He is now 9 lbs. 8 oz. and 21.5 in. - over a pound heavier than his weight when we left the hospital and an entire inch longer!!!

He continues to sleep well and is the best-behaved baby! The past two nights he has only woken up once each night!!

Brode's Visit

Here Denver is with Brode. He enjoyed the visit even though she buckled him up wrong in his car seat! We picked out his Halloween costume today so be sure to check back Wednesday to find out how he dressed for his first Halloween.

Another first...

I suppose there will be many "firsts" over the next several days, weeks, months, years...

Today was Denver's first "well-baby" pediatrician visit. Of course, as we already knew, the doctor confirmed that he indeed was the Perfect Baby! Everything checked out fine. He is now 8 lbs. 9 oz. ... just two ounces shy of his birth weight.

Denver's first walk...

Erin took Denver on his first walk around the neighborhood yesterday... unfortunately, I couldn't be there, but she sent me pictures, which I've included here.

It's amazing how much it seems he grows and changes each day. He has truly been a blessing & we have enjoyed every minute with him in his first six days of life. He has been a wonderful baby, sleeping through the night. We literally have had to wake him up to feed him each night.

Presenting: DENVER JAMES HARRIS

On Thursday October 11, 2007 at 2:16PM, we were blessed with the birth of our first child, Denver James Harris.

We arrived at the hospital around 7:30PM on October 10 for a scheduled induction. What we didn't realize was Erin was already having contractions too close together for the hospital staff to administer the required medications to speed the labor. Our doctor was at the hospital and broke Erin's water to encourage the baby to move down the birth canal.

By 10:00 Thursday morning Erin was fully dilated & began pushing. Because of some decreased fetal heart rates with each contraction, after three hours of pushing, the doctor decided to perform a c-section and Denver James Harris was presented to the world at 2:16PM.
